Here we go!
Welcome everyone! I’ve been wanting a one-stop-shop so to say for all things in the life of me. I thought I could share what I’m up to every week. Think outfits, food, exercises, plans, thoughts etc. and IYKYK I love a detail. So buckle up, this should be fun! xx CC.
The week wrapped- 3/3
Started with a gorg Chicago 45°/50° day. Movement was Studio Three interval, think Orange Theory + Barry’s combined. I recently signed up for a 10K so trying to keep up my running before I start training. The weather this week has been all over the place I can’t keep up. I have been changing 5 times a day I swear. I try to get in at minimum a 2 mile walk every morning after my workout and walking to La Colombe is the perfect excuse to hold me accountable. I will say my coffee order is boring— 16oz cold brew no room for cream! Then I add cinnamon powder. Friday’s I do a “treat coffee” it’s fun! It is usually a cold brew with the chai on draft (my weakness) or whatever else they have on draft to try for fun. This week Strawberry is back— it’s good trust. After living off chicken noodle soup last week from being under the weather I was so excited to get back into cooking. I did a recreation of this GLORIOUS deconstructed cobb salad I had at my absolute fav, Street Bar in Boston (to die for ser.) more on that. I started Meghan Markle’s cooking show (no MM slander allowed) and it inspired me to get my kitchen together. My apartment has been under “renovations” as I say, keep in mind it’s a 650 sq. ft. apartment so not much can happen but I have gotten a new couch (life changing) and coffee table. Meghan inspired something I like to call low lift elevations. To me it’s small things to elevate everyday life/things. We’re all about affordable luxury over here. (more on that in what I’m buying/eyeing).
What I’m wearing:
Monday- Aritzia set + beanie (all closet staples), H&M 100% wool coat (an iconic find/price), Asics gel 11-30s (my FAV).
Tuesday- J.crew mock neck, Aritzia leggings + Vest + Beanie, Salomon sneakers (size down).
Wednesday- Been loving this Anine Bing crewneck I scored on sale, Aritzia TNA crop flare leggings (the fit is INSANE) + Beanie, Salomon sneakers (size down).
FriYAY (as we say around here)- COS Wool turtleneck, H&M mini shorts (insane find), Target black sheer tights, Madewell belt, and Schutz boots.
How I’m moving:
To be honest with you this probably won’t change much week to week. I’m a creature of habit LBR. But let’s get into it, I hope it inspires you! I’m a morning workout girly, 7:10AM class everyday. M- Interval, T- 3x3 (think strength training), W- Yoga, THR- 3x3, F- 3x3, SAT- 3x3. Told ya creature of habit. I’m pretty into health & wellness (blah blah IK) so I like to research and try new supplements to support muscle recovery and help me stay at the top of my game. Recently I started taking the new arrae Tone and let me tell you I am SOLD! I had previously taken creatine in powder form in the past and found I retained so much water weight and if I’m being honest (safe space) I can’t have extra weight on me. My brother (D1 athlete— humble brag) told me to take half the suggested dose but we both agreed this supplement would be a good alternative. I will keep you all abreast on this journey. All in all creatine is wonderful for your mind/body. Highly rec!
Weekend Plans:
FriYAY at last— GNO! Let us get into it! 7:30 res at Momotaro with my dear friend Sydney, let’s get real 7:30 is the best time for a dinner res on a weekend.
What to order: (share everything!!)— Lychee Martini (pairs so well with sushi IMO), Shishito Peppers, Hamachi Yellowtail Nigiri and Beef Tsukune “Sliders” if you fancy a bao moment. Then move on to the Chahan basically crispy rice + beef (underrated), Rolls: Momomaki roll, Negitoro, Negi Hamachi, and Tekka Maki.
Saturday- ser this is the only way to spend a sunny Sat in Chi! Studio Three LP work out with my girly swirly Sarah, then off to Armitage Ale House (tip- put your name on the waitlist then walk around LP).
What to order: Start with the Bloody Mary (trust!!), then share the Light & Crispy Waffles + strawberries & cream (a MUST add), this time we opted for the Farm Egg Scramble + Salmon with a side of hashbrowns & chicken sausage. I also love the Thick Cut Bacon Benedict. One of my fav brunches in Chicago.
What I’m eating:
Last week I was sick (ugh!) but whenever I get even the slightest inkling that I’m getting sick I “initiate protocol” as I say. That starts with no caffeine and swapping for warm water with lemon & honey then a super food smoothie.
What you’ll need- Banana (potassium), Blueberries (antioxidants), Bee Pollen (trust.), Spinach, Ginger and whatever else you want.
Since recovering (THANK GOD.) I have been incorporating a smoothie after coffee this week. I have been adding my new Promix protein powder which I highly rec. I’ve tried a bunch and done tons of research and this is a winner.
More on the deconstructed cobb salad I recreated from Street Bar in Boston. The salad itself was the classic cobb you’re thinking of, nostalgic to my childhood. My mom still serves a cobb salad on her wedding china basically every holiday and being a Midwest family at heart it’s a Crook family fav. Blue cheese & bacon?! How could you go wrong. But this specific salad had a dijon vinaigrette as the dressing.
What you’ll need- Romaine lettuce (+ I added kale for extra) 2 hard boiled eggs, 4 pieces of bacon cooked to a crisp, cherry tomatoes, chives, blue cheese crumbles, & avocado. Dressing: (measure with your heart, I ser don’t own a measuring spoon) Olive oil, whole grain dijon mustard, reg dijon mustard, juice 1 lemon, salt, pepper, honey. I also marinated chicken thighs in this dressing and added them to the salad. Dress the salad then mix in desired toppings and you’ve got yourself a deconstructed cobb.
What I’m eyeing/buying:
You’ll come to learn I LOVE a sale and love to source high quality “dupes”.
Eyeing this week- The RealReal Gucci Mules, and Bottega Veneta sandals.
Buying this week- Via The RealReal Gucci silk top, Facemask. As for homewares— Target cutting board + mini lamp. S/O Meghan Markle for the inspo.
Putting a bow on the week!
Thank you all for reading. This was fun! See you next Sunday and don’t forget to share with a friend!
